26. Seth
walked into the kitchen to find Drew sipping a cup of coffee at the
bench. “Where
are the others?” “They’re
in the living room, I thought I’d stay and wait for you.” She got
out the bench, taking her now empty cup to the sink. She
rinsed it and put it in the drying rack. “Lets
get a move on.” Drew started towards the
door. “No so
fast.” Seth grabbed her hand pulling her against him. “Seth
they’re waiting for us.” “Too
bad.” He tilted her chin up
and lowered his head to capture her mouth in a kiss. Drew
moaned as his soft lips rubbed along hers, opening to him she felt a
spike of heat as his tongue invaded her mouth. The
kiss quickly got out of control, Drew had her hands buried in Seth’s
hair. Trying to gain some balance because her own legs
were too weak to hold her up. He
groaned sensing her weakness and lifted her, putting her down on the
kitchen counter without breaking the kiss. Drew opened her
legs so Seth could step between them, gasping when he ground himself
against her. Seth tugged her
tee shirt loose and ran his hand up her stomach and over the curve of
her lace covered breast. He kneaded the fullness of it,
groaning into her mouth when her nipple hardened even more under the
attention. He pulled the bra aside so he could get at her breast
unhampered. Drew
ran a palm down Seth’s chest lifting his tee shirt to reach the
button of his jeans. She struggled for a moment to untie
it one handed, then gave up, turning one finger she popped the button
off with a claw. Seth
chuckled breaking the kiss for a moment. “That was my favorite pair
of jeans you just ruined.” “Too
bad.” She threw his words back at him and pulled his head back to
kiss him again. Drew
lay her palm against the skin of his stomach and slid her hand into
his jeans pushing the zip down as she went. He
moaned into her mouth when her hand closed and tightened around his
cock. She stroked from tip to base and back up
again. God he
needed to get inside her now or he was going to die. Seth reached
down to the waistband of her jeans, only to growl in
frustration. Why the hell couldn’t Drew have been
wearing a skirt. He was just going to have to ruin her
pair of jeans too, he morphed his hand making claws and hooked them
into hip edge of her jeans. Drew
growled into his mouth knowing what he was about to do and approving
of it completely. She needed him inside of her, filling
her completely, almost painfully so. Seth
started to tug… “Ah Dude,
Crap, sorry!” Marcus voice jerked them both back to
reality. Seth
broke the kiss and Drew buried her face in his shoulder, hiding the
scalding blush she was wearing. Oh
God, she’d nearly had sex in a kitchen, the compound kitchen to be
exact, the kitchen that was always full of people going in and
out. “Seriously,
I’m sorry, but the others sent me to find out where you guys
are.” Seth felt
like murdering Marcus right at that moment. He stifled the
urge. “It’s
all good Marcus. Tell them we’ll be right
there.” “Will
do.” Marcus called as he left the room. Giving them the
time they needed to pull themselves together. “I’m
going to have to lock us in a soundproof room so that no one can
interrupt us again.” Seth grumbled. Drew
felt hysterical laughter bubble to the surface. “We do
seem to be having privacy issues.” She said tongue in
cheek. “Yeah, and maybe I
shouldn’t have tried to make love to you in the
kitchen.” Seth
stepped away from her before he tried just that again. Make
love, not have sex or fuck, make love. Drew felt her heart
flip. Seth lifted
his tee shirt and zipped up then grinned at the missing button. “I’m
going to run up stairs and change my jeans. I’ll meet
you in the living room?” “Yeah.”
She nodded as Seth lifted her off the counter. “Kay,
I’ll be down now.” He jogged out the
kitchen. Drew
walked into the living room in a bit of a daze. She sank
down into the nearest chair vaguely aware that Gabriel was talking to
a tiny woman that looked a lot like Selphie. Her mind was
buzzing thoughts running around her head. Where had the
ice-queen Brynn always accused her of being gone to? Why
was she suddenly happy to… Seth’s words echoed in her mind - make
love - in a busy kitchen of all places. If Marcus hadn’t
walked in. She left that thought hanging and went back to
Seth’s words. Make love. Oh
god! She was so far gone she was putting meanings to his
words he probably never intended. She had to get a grip,
and a damn strong one. She’d stupidly fallen in love
with Seth and it was going to cause her nothing but heartache. Did
she really want to put her self through all of this? Drew
noticed that Ross was staring at her strangely, he suddenly jumped up
and grabbed her hand, pulling her out of her chair. “Come.”
He told her before looking over at Dante “Tell Gabe
we’ll be right back.” Ross
dragged Drew out the room and too a hidden alcove along the
passage. “What’s
wrong Ross?” “I’m
going to teach you something.” “What? Why?
Ross you aren’t making sense.” Ross
rolled his eyes and repeated her whole train of though in the living
room back to her word for word. “Oh
my god.” She hissed. “Your
broadcasting, I want to teach you to block it, so you don’t have to
be embarrassed when others can pick up what you’re
thinking.” “Too
late.” She frowned. He
laughed, “I knew you were in love with Seth before you figured it
out, I think a few of us did.” “How
is that supposed to make me feel better?” She asked with a raised
eyebrow. “It’s
not, I’m just stating a fact.” “Ross,”
she swatted his arm. “you can be such a prick at times.” He
gave her a crocked smile. “You only just realizing
that?” “Okay,
so what do I need to do?” “It’s
quiet simple, when you know you are stressed and probably
broadcasting, just build a wall.” “What?” “Close
your eyes.” He waited for her to comply. “Ok good, now
imagine a white space. Add bricks to the image,
building them up one at a time. Cover the wall in ivy or
flowers or something that appeals to you.” “Okay,
I’ve done that.” “Let
me test it.” Drew
felt him push at her mind, a pressure that quickly
abated. “Good,
you’ve got some cracks but you can work at it. This will
stop you broadcasting too badly. Instead of whole thoughts
all that will get out is emotions. And only to those who
can read them well.” “Thank
you Ross.” She meant it, he was being a good friend to
her. “Not a
big. You are still new to our world and you need to learn
the ins and outs. By the way.” They started walking back
to the living room. “I
heard about your shifting and Veronica.” “News
travels fast.” “Around
here? Always. But I wanted to say, it was cool what you
did, and it made me proud to know you.” She
smiled at him. “Thanks Ross.” “Would
everyone stop disappearing please.” Gabriel grumped when they got
back. Seth raised
a brow when Drew came in with Ross then patted the other half of the
couch telling her he wanted her to sit by him. Drew
plopped down next to him and gave him a smile. She loved
his streak of jealousy. It made her feel there must be
more to his feelings for her than just lust. “Drew
you haven’t met Esbeth, my cousin.” Selphie introduced
them. “Oh yes,
you are most assuredly the first of the nexus.” Esbeth
said in greeting. “Now
that everyone is here, could you explain this prophesy to us please
Esbeth.” Gabriel requested. She
bowed her head then began the explanation. “The
prophecy’s first words are ‘It will begin with the end.” That
never made sense until Selphie told me that you are all part of the
Omega. Omega - also definable as ‘the end’.” She
smiled, pleased with her logic. “I’m
not going to bore you with the archaic text of the prophesy, it was
written a very long time ago. I’ll give you the gist of
it. There will be a time, and it looks like the time has
come. Where destiny will pair off certain people. The
pairing will be undeniable and there will be no way the man and woman
involved will be able to fight it. They will be life
partners or life mates. They will be meant for each other
– if you want to look at it in a purely romantic sense.”
“Why?” Ross
asked. “The
prophecy doesn’t go into too much detail, except to mention a time
of great darkness. These nexuses will give both people
more power and abilities than they would have had on their own. It’s
my guess the nexuses will be our first line of defense against the
darkness that is coming. The prophecy also mentions that
any children produced in a nexus will be extremely
powerful.” “This
is very interesting, but how can we be sure that any of us are a part
of this nexus.” Seth sat forward in his chair. “I
can feel it, I’m sure Selphie can feel it and Neferitis felt
it. That’s why she was so upset – from what I can
understand happened when you visited hell. The nexus will
be bad news for hell, especially if the darkness originates there and
the nexus originates amongst the most powerful warriors the mythos
have ever known. And honestly Drew reeks of nexus, any
nymph would pick it up if they knew what they were looking for
it.” “So what
you are telling me is that I have a life mate already chosen for
me?” The thought made Drew’s blood run cold, she was
in love with Seth, she didn’t want a frigging nexus. “Yes
that is exactly what I’m saying.” “How
do we know?” Seth asked his expression cold. “Know
what?” “Who is the other
half of Drew’s Nexus.” “There
are ways we can tell, tests if you will. I know its one of
the men in this room. Neferitis knew it too.”
“Well?” Seth was close to
snapping at the evasive Esbeth, she’d just effectively told him his
time with Drew was over. If she – no - when
she had her nexus mate, he’d have to give her up. The
though of giving Drew up was making him feel sick, almost
nauseous. “Well,
to do the test Drew will have to stand bare breasted in the center of
the room, with all the males around her.” “Hell
no, she won’t!” Seth snarled. A
little smile played across Esbeth’s face. “You are right, she
won’t. But your reaction is interesting Seth. You
will be tested last.” She
motioned for Drew to come closer. “Could you stand here
Drew.” Drew got
up, feeling self conscious under the scrutiny of everyone in the
room. “I’m
going to place my fingers at your temples Drew, you will feel a push
on your mind, please try not to block me.” Drew
nodded and let Esbeth into her mind. In
the pitch dark of the mausoleum Kyle jerked. “What the
hell was that?” He
could barely see his hand in front of his face, but he felt the
spirit presence of his sentin rub against him. “I
think I’d go nuts if you weren’t here Khaish. I don’t mind
being dead, it’s being trapped in here that’s going to drive me
frigging fruitbat. I wish I could get out this tomb, just
to be able to wonder round the compound will make life, sorry - death
– that much better. ” He felt the leopards ghostly
purr. “Damn there it is
again, like a twinge, do you feel it Khaish?” Yes He
heard his sentins answer in his mind. Kyle got up and
walked up the stairs to the door that had been his barrier for fifty
years, he’d tried many times to move past it but it never
budged. He’d even tried getting out of it when Seth
opened it, but there was no way he was going to get past that
obstruction. The walls of the mausoleum proved to be just
as impenetrable. “Crap!”
he hissed, hating being trapped in one room. He
lay his forehead against the door. And it kept going
through. “Holy
frigging Shit!” he yelled as he fell through the
barrier. “Khaish…
Khaish.” He called his sentin. “Get your fury butt out
here.” The
sentin poked his head through the door. “Haul
ass, get out here before it closes again.” Kyle
grinned when the sentin was out. “Woohoo!”
he yelled throwing his arms out and spinning on the grass outside the
mausoleum. “We’re
free fur face – We’re free!”
