31.
Sorcha wondered around the mall without much purpose.  She was so lost in her own chaotic thoughts that she’d twice walked into someone, both times she’d mumbled a hurried apology and told herself to pay more attention.
That was easier thought than done.  Kyle’s words kept echoing around in her head.  Was part of the reason that she was so terrified of being his Nexus partner that she wanted to play the field a bit?  Could it be that because she’d never so much as kissed another man she wasn’t sure that she wanted to get stuck with Kyle for the rest of her life?  After all she was immortal, it could be a very long life.
He’d been out of line insinuating that she wanted to sleep with everyone, the thought of being that intimate with anyone but Kyle made her stomach churn and not in a good way, but kissing another man – could any other make her feel like Kyle did?
It was useless speculation anyway, she wasn’t going to go up to one of the guys in the compound and tap him on his shoulder and say something stupid like.
Excuse me, I just want to see if another man can make me feel the way Kyle does, would you mind kissing me and while you at it, see if you can make my toes curl.
Sorcha laughed out loud at the thought.  No that was a ridiculous idea.
She was glad she’d come to the mall, she’d needed time to think about this.  Her eyes wondered up and collided with the digital wall clock in the mall.  It was eight PM already, Selphie knew where Sorcha was, she’d borrowed Selph’s car to come here, but she needed to get back to the compound.  She didn’t think Kyle would appreciate her being out after dark while Raven and her cohorts were still on the loose.  The last thing she needed was to get into another argument with that man.  She was mad enough at him already.
Yeah she’d better start back to the compound.
Sorcha left the mall and crossed the parking lot to the car, in retrospect she should have parked in a more open area.  She’s chosen a secluded area on the side of the mall, and right now the parking lot where she’s parked Selphie’s car was empty and too close to the shadows of the building for her comfort.
I could teleport into the car.
Yeah, but the point of bringing the car in the first place was so that I didn’t pop in and out of view where someone can see me.
She straightened her spine and clutched Selphie’s keys in her hand then bit out a curse when the stupid silver heart Selphie had dangling off the key-chain bit into her palm cutting her.
Someone stepped out the shadows and Sorcha took a step back.
“Can I possibly help you Ma’am?”  His voice made Sorcha’s skin crawl and she realized she’d just been pegged on a predator’s radar.
“I’m fine, thank you.  I don’t need any help.”  She tried not to let a tremor show in her voice, Sorcha had never dealt with a combat situation on her own.  So she was nervous, unfortunately much like dogs, rogue mythos can smell fear and this one stepped closer, sensing Sorcha’s lack of confidence.
“Oh don’t be like that.  I just want to help you.”
“Listen buddy, back off.  If I needed help I sure as hell wouldn’t ask you, and if you come any closer I will hurt you.”
“Oww, I like her she’s feisty.”  A new voice from the shadows made Sorcha call her self an idiot.  Why the hell hadn’t she sensed another presence.
The first one took advantage of her momentary distraction and stepped forward clasping her upper arm in a vice like grip.
      “Got you my pretty.”
Sorcha looked down at his hand and smiled as he gasped in pain, she forced each finger that held her open with telekinesis, as painfully as she possible could, bending each digit further back that was naturally possible, she grimaced when she heard the pop of the first finger dislocating.
The creature howled and jumped back.  “You’re Mythos.”
“I’m Omega you bastard.”  She thrust a hand out and flung him like a rag doll.  He crumpled as he hit the wall.
The second one laughed.  “If you think I’m taking you on by myself missy, you’re wrong.”  He waved his hand a rather effeminate gesture for such a big man, but what ever he did worked because five others suddenly surrounded her.
Oh shit, now I’m in trouble.
Sorcha ignored her internal voice and braced herself for battle.
“Get her!”  The order was obeyed immediately two of them moving forward.
Sorcha flung them back and they landed in crumpled heaps but got up while she was trying to fling the third into the air.  The first two approached her again, faster this time, realizing she need time to focus her energy so she could lift and throw them.
Sorcha felt hands clamp around her upper arms the last one had grabbed her from behind, but before she could remove the fingers someone hit her with a stunning blow to the abdomen then through her face.
Her head snapped around on her neck and she felt dazed.
This is it Sorcha, kiss the world bye bye.
The thought held a tinge of sadness, but suddenly there was a blur of sliver blades, and Sorcha was released.  She gasped trying to get air back into her body.  No one ever told her it hurt to have your wind knocked out of you.
She watched still a little dazed as Sin made short work of her opponents, his twin katana blades slicing deeply and with accuracy.
Where had he come from, who cared, he’d just saved her backside and Sorcha was immensely grateful.
It must have been a matter of moment, though it felt like hours to Sorcha, but the remaining creeps made a break, running when they realized that they were completely out gunned.
Hooray for a yellow streak.  Sorcha thought absurdly then Sin was offering her a hand up.
      “You okay?”
“Yeah I think so, give me a second to get my breath back.”  Sorcha rested her hands on her thighs and took in deep lungfuls of air.
“Where did you come from?” Sorcha looked up at Sin.
He tipped his head up and pointed at the roof of the mall.
“I’m going to start calling you anti-grav, thanks for the help Sin.”
“So you do remember me.”  His smile was warm and made his boyish face more handsome, if that was possible.
“You aren’t that easy to forget.”  Sorcha returned his smile.
“Where is the rest of your crew?”
“I left them at the compound today, looks like that may have been a very bad idea.”
He shrugged.  “Not really, I was here.”
Sorcha stood straight and dusted the seat of her pants.  “Yeah, I got lucky.”
“I think it’s the other way around.”  Sin stepped forward and pulled Sorcha into his arms before she could make any protest.
Slipping one arm around her waist he used the other to tilt her chin up then dropped his head moving his lips softly against Sorcha’s.
She was so shocked it didn’t even occur to her to protest, she opened her mouth to do just that, but Sin took it as in invitation and slipped the warm velvet of his tongue into her mouth.
Hmm, he tastes good. Sorcha stood still for a moment, not wanting to participate in the kiss then she realized – here was her opportunity, she’d kiss Sin and see if he could do to her what Kyle did.
Sorcha returned the kiss, trying to feel the passion that Kyle inspired in her blood.  It was a good kiss, but it was without.
Without the heat low in her stomach, without the pulse racing, breath catching butterflies that Kyle made her feel.  Sorcha wanted to whoop for joy.  Kyle was the only man who  could move her to such desperate desire.  If the hotty that Sin was couldn’t do it, then no other man could.
He broke the kiss and stepped back.
“Not the one you want.”  It wasn’t a question, he knew there was no spark.
“Sorry.”  Sorcha felt the need to apologize.  His answering grin told her there were no hard feelings.
“Hell, I had to try.”  He winked at her, Sorcha had to smile at his charm.
“Listen, you are a fantastic fighter, I’m sure that Gabriel would love to meet you and offer you a place at the compound.  I think we’ll need a good warrior in the coming drama.”  Sorcha didn’t know why she’d made the offer, goodness knew it wasn’t her place to do so, but she believed she’d done the right thing.
“Sorry Sorcha, I fly solo, I don’t play well with others.”
“Are you sure?  At least think it over.”
“For another smile from you I’ll give it some thought, but I’ll probably decide against it anyway.”
Gah, the guy was cheeky, sweet, but cheeky.  Sorcha smiled anyway, she had a feeling they’d need Sin on their side.
“Come I’ll walk you to your car.”  He turned and started towards the vehicle.  Sorcha followed him grateful for the offer.
“Thanks for helping me.”  She meant the walk to the car and the help with her attackers.
“Not a problem.”  He opened the car door.
How the hell?  She still had the keys in her hand and she’d made sure she looked the car when she got out.
“It’s an ability I have.”  He pulled the door open moving out of her way so she could get in.
      “Thanks again.”
“Pleasure, and if you all need a man who’s good with a blade, just go to the corner of Sixth and Eighth street and call me.  I’ll hear you.”
Sorcha nodded, then put the key in the ignition.
      “Okay, I’ll remember that.”
“Good.”  Sin closed the door and stood waiting for her to pull out the parking lot.

Kyle was sitting in a couch in the rec room watching Marcus and Dante playing Soul Cages when Sorcha walked into the room.  He flicked his eyes back to the screen.  He didn’t have the patience or guts to deal with another dose of rejection from the woman.  Right now it was taking all the patience he had not to go to the rooftop and scream his head off in frustration.
She walked up to him, not saying a word and put on knee down on the couch between his legs.  Sorcha grabbed the front of his shirt pulled him forward then dipped her head and started kissing him.
Kyle was completely confused, you don’t tell someone you don’t want to be with them then kiss them like that.  He tried damn heard not to respond but this woman touched him on so many levels Kyle had no choice, he started kissing her back for all he was worth, feeling his cock harden more with every millisecond Sorcha was kissing him.  Damn her for being able to turn him on like a switch, he was mad at her, and here he was on the point of getting up and carrying her back to bed.
Before he could act on the thought, Sorcha broke the kiss, disentangled his hands from her clothing and turned and walked out the room.
“What the hell Sorcha!”  He yelled after her, unable to get up right that second because he had Marcus and Dante’s undivided attention and a fucking boa constrictor in his pants.
She didn’t answer, she was still pissed, but she’d wanted to see if his kiss could still move her and damn had it!  Sorcha fanned herself as she walked down the corridor to find Selphie and tell her she wanted a new room.
She needed time to sort out what she felt about Kyle, time when he wasn’t making love to her.  She had to make this decision, not her damn body.
