25.
“I’ve got bad news.”  Marcus walked into the debriefing room and spoke.
Seth looked up from the map he had been studding and rolled his eyes.  “No thanks.  You can keep your bad news.  I’ve got enough to deal with right now Marcus.”
“Yeah and I would spare you boss-man, but you are going to want to see this.”  Marcus strolled over to the desk and tossed a pack of photos onto the desk.
Seth picked up the photos and started flipping through them.  “I see the house we’ve got a stake out on, but every figure on these is blurred out.”
“Yeah.  Looks like I missed a warding on the place.”  Marcus pulled a desk chair closer and sat down on it.
“Can you circumvent that warding?”  Seth raised his eyes to look at Marcus.
“I could.”  Marcus leaned back and folded his arms across his chest. “But there would be no point.”
“Marcus.”  Seth pinched the bridge of his nose.  “I’m tired – do you think we can get to the point already?”
      “Its empty.”
      “Excuse me?”
Marcus flashed a grin.  “You told me to get to the point.”
“Yeah I did.  Try a longer point.”
“The house has been cleared out.”
“What?  When?  We’ve had people watching that place since we found it.”
“Someone must have gotten sloppy.  Whoever was there has cleared out, and they managed to do it right under our noses.”
Seth expelled a string of curses.  “Just our damn luck.  What do we do now?”
“That is the million dollar question.”

“Damn we got stuck in a boring part of town.”  Kyle pulled a face as they drove down the quiet streets.
“Don’t bitch dude.  Rather the quiet than the almost dying.”  Dante rebuked him from the driver seat.
“What’s that?”  Sorcha pointed at an alley a half a block down, there was a feint yellow glow.
“Looks like our bad guys.  Thanks for the jinks Kyle.  Lets go investigate.” Dante slowed the car and pulled to a stop just before the alley mouth.
“You know I don’t want you with during this right?”  Kyle told Sorcha as she unbuckled the safety belt and reached for the door handle.
“I know.  You know that wont stop me right?”  Sorcha shot back at him.
“I know, but I want you to remember not to take chances please Sorcha.”  He leaned forward and gave her a soft kiss on the forehead.  Then opened the car door and slid out.
Sorcha had to smile.  You'd swear the big lug loved her or something.  Oh god - her stomach dropped at the thought.  It made her want to dance for joy and cry at the same time, because her over active imagination was running away with her again.  Of course he cared.  She was his stabilizing point in the world without her he would be insubstantial and invisible again.  That didn’t mean he loved her.  In fact he was probably only worried about her because she was the one who made him corporeal.
      Yes, but he wants you.
The voice in her head was relentless.  She almost snorted.  Wanting and loving were two different things.  You could lust after someone till the sun burned out it didn’t mean you loved them.
Sorcha sighed and opened her car door to get out.
“Move quietly and say close, and for god sake be careful.” Dante hissed softly at her.
“Would you all stop telling me that.  I know I’m new at the fighting thing, but I’m pretty sure I can handle myself.”
Dante rolled his eyes at her, but turned and moved forward towards the alley.
He turned back once he got a look.  “Yeah it’s our bad guys and they are having dinner, why always in an alley?”
“Nice and quiet and you can hide your presence from normals.”  Kyle answered Dante’s rhetorical question, then moved past him.
He peeked round the corner then held up three fingers.  Then moved back towards the others.  “We should handle three with out a problem.  I don’t think we need to call for backup.”
“Yeah but Seth told us to call if we found any Hive members.  Especially with Sorcha with us.”  Dante reminded him.
“Seth’s the one who took Ross off this patrol we can handle three.”  Sorcha insisted.
“Okay, but just so you know I’m not happy with this plan.”  Dante frowned.
“By the time we are done talking they’ll be gone lets move.”  Kyle started forward again moving low and fast he was on the first Hive member without a sound slamming into the creature.
Sorcha grabbed at that air and lifted the normal out of the second creatures grasp.  She swung moving the human to the safety of the street then used a close by dumpster as a battering ram against the hive member that had been holding the human.
The third turned as Dante approached and lifted its covered hands to drop the hood back.  Dante launched forward but diverted his lunge as Sorcha screamed. “Stop!”
The flickering creature slipped back its hood and Sorcha recognized the flickering image of a face within the yellow glow.
Dante stumbled and spun.  “What the hell you screaming stop for Sorcha.”
“I know that face.”  She stepped closer and looked into the transparent image of the girl that had been calling her in her dreams.
“Sorcha, we need your help.  We are trapped.”  The voice faded in and out – the voice of the girl.
Sorcha stared at the figure in amazement.  “The missing Psy are the Hive?”  She asked as things clicked together for her.
“Yes, but they aren’t strong enough to break his hold, help us Sorcha.”
The two hooded Hive moved closer grabbing the girl’s form, and dragging her backwards.
Without warning a searing bright light lit up the alley The Omega reacted instinctively shielded their eyes.
“No!”  The girl Hive screamed as the air ripped open.  Raven stepped out of the rip and grabbed Sorcha’s arm.
“Got you.”  She laughed and disappeared with Sorcha.

“How is she?”  Darius asked without preamble as he walked into the infirmary.
Jesse looked up from the computers flat screen and smiled.
“She’s fine…  Still in a deep sleep, but I can’t find anything wrong with her.
Darius nodded but didn’t turn to leave immediately.  “Can I go see her?”
“Sure, go right ahead, from what the other say you’re the one in charge of looking after her.”
Darius didn’t answer as he moved through the door leading to the exam rooms of the infirmary.  He entered Exam Room Three where he knew Jesse had put the girl. Stopping when he got to her bedside.  Darius looked at her sleeping face properly for the first time.
She was beautiful with a full Cupid’s bow mouth and slightly slanted eyes.  Her pure white hair lay across the pillow almost blending into the white of the pillowslip.  He reached forward and picked up a lock of her hair.  It was silky soft.
Darius felt connected to her somehow and the feeling disturbed him.  He allow himself to find the girl beautiful.  He had to remember Namara, and to find someone else attractive made him feel like he was betraying her.
He couldn’t understand why the dragon god had put this delicate creature in Darius’s care.  He had to know how badly Darius had fucked up the last time he’d tried to protect a dragon.
“So this is the girl that caused all the commotion last night.”  Ross moved into the room going around the other side of her bed to get a better look at her.
“Aren’t you supposed to be on patrol?”  Darius dropped the lock of her hair he was holding.  He was sharper than he meant to be but Ross’s sudden appearance had startled him and made him feel guilty
“Yeah I am, but Seth let me off to deal with a rabid bitch.”  Ross twisted his lips obviously still pissed.
      “And?”
      “And what?” Ross looked up.
      “Did you deal with her?”
Ross snorted.  “She laughed at me and told me I’m too hung-up on privacy, but I got to scream at her for a bit and it made me feel better.”
Ross looked down at the girl again.
“She’s beautiful.  I don’t know weather to congratulate you for pulling this detail or to feel sorry for you.”
It was Dar’s turn to snort.
“Feel sorry for me Ross, feel very very sorry for me.”
Ross bent forward and shifted the bedding by her hand.  “Gods you know!  I need a new title – the Omega descrier.”
      “What?”
Ross lifted Aurora’s right hand and showed Darius her wrist.
“So that’s why he wanted her with the Omega.”  Darius was amazed.
On her right wrist where all the other female Omega’s symbols had appeared was the same Omega sign in black, but curling from the curve of it was a set of dragon wings.
“What about the Omega?”  Jesse asked coming into the room then he saw Aurora’s wrist.  “That wasn’t there when I examined her.”
“Well it’s there now.”  Darius bit out.  He was not happy.

Kyle stared at the spot Sorcha had been standing in disbelief.  She was there, she had to be there.  He hadn’t seen Raven take her and teleport away.  No that couldn’t have happened.
“Oh Fuck!”  Dante gasped.  “Raven’s got Sorcha!”
Kyle looked at Dante.  Not even really seeing the wolf.
Then is sunk in and Kyle understood with total clarity that there wasn’t time for him to be in shock now.  Raven had Sorcha and he had to get her back.
“Get to the compound – tell Seth what has happened make sure he gets Gabriel.  I’m going to try and follow Sorcha’s essence.”  Kyle spoke in a low voice sounding perfectly calm while his world caved in around him.  He couldn’t loose Sorcha he just couldn’t.
Dante nodded and sprinted out the mouth of the alley, not waiting for further instructions.
Kyle heard the gunning car engine as he closed his eyes and felt for the woman who was his existence literally and figuratively.
A small smile curved his lips.  There it was – the faint trace of Sorcha.  Something he could grasp and follow.

Seth’s was in his makeshift office also known as the debriefing room when the door slammed open so violently it nearly came off the hinges.
      “What the?”
“Raven’s got Sorcha!”  Dante gasped out breathlessly.
“How, when, where.  Details Dante, I want details and I want them yesterday.”
“On patrol we came across three Hive, we thought we could take them and we would have.  Except Sorcha stopped me attacking one.  And Raven flashed in and took her.”
“Slow down Dante you aren’t making sense.”
Dante took a deep breath and told Seth what happened.
“Kyle wants you to get Gabriel.”
Seth nodded.  “Yes I think we could use his power.”
Seth tilted his head back and yelled.  “THOR!  Get your godly ass down here.”
Both men had to dive backwards when a lightening bold struck in the center of the room, followed by booming thunder.
“Gees, I think my ears are bleeding.”  Dante muttered when he got up.
Seth got up and dusted himself off.
“Seth, I’m not big on formalities, but ‘get your godly ass down here’?” Thor raised a perfectly arched eyebrow in the Lycos’s direction.
“Sorry, I was a bit flustered.”
The other eyebrow shot up to join the first.  “You? Flustered?  Okay so what’s going down?”
“Raven’s got Sorcha and Kyle has followed after.”
Seth broke it down for Thor, stopping to answer questions whenever Thor interrupted.
“Fine.” Thor said when Seth had finished explaining.  “We’ll get this sorted.  I think I’ll enjoy a good search and rescue mission.  Need to stay out of Valhalla for a bit anyway, there is a pissed off goddess who’s sicced some nasties after me.  Apparently I didn’t respect her in the morning.”
With that comment and a toothy grin Thor disappeared.

Kyle materialized in a cave, at least he thought it was a cave.  He was in a tiny room carved out of a wall.  Sorcha sat in the corner huddled in a ball.  He went to her dropping to his knees.
“Sorcha are you okay?”  He asked has he ran his hands over her looking for wounds.
“No she’s not.”  Kyle heard behind him, he started to turn when Sorcha arched back and screamed.   She looked like she was having a seizure.
“How did you find her Omega?”  Raven hissed at him.
Kyle felt Sorcha go limp in his arms as the seizure passed, he turned his head and pinned Raven with a stare that should have turned her to stone.
      “You die for this Raven.”
The bitch threw back her head and laughed at him.  If Kyle had blood pressure it would have sky rocketed in that moment.
“You can’t touch me Omega.  I am more powerful than you could dream.”
Kyle lay Sorcha down carefully on the cold stone then stood up.
“I don’t dream.”  In one movement Kyle spun and launched himself at Raven.
